4th Afghanistan-Pakistan Dialogue (APD-IV)
22-23 January 2016-Kabul, Afghanistan
The Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) organized the fourth round of “Afghanistan-Pakistan Bilateral Dialogue” in Kabul, Afghanistan.The two-day conference, held on January 22-23, 2016, was attended by scores of high-ranking Afghan government officials, legislators, academicians, businessmen, and representatives of different international organizations, media outlets and civil society.An eleven-member Pakistani delegation comprising of law-makers, civil society activists, academia and journalists, diplomats visited Afghanistan to participate in the dialogue. Pakistani delegation reflected a variety of stakeholders from divergent backgrounds.
During the first day of this dialogue, there were three working sessions in addition to the way forward session held under the following themes: 1) Untangling the Taliban, 2) Mapping Mutual Redlines, 3) Mutual Accountability & Verification Mechanism/process. Two open sessions were held on January 23 to discuss “Towards A Paradigm Shift in Afghanistan-Pakistan Relations” and International Perspectives.at the end of the Dialogue the delegations met with former Afghan President, Hamid Karzai.
The first, second and third meetings were held in Islamabad (June 2015), Herat (October 2015) and Islamabad (December 2015) respectively.
