On Thursday, September 3, 2020, Nowruz radio and website officially launched during a ceremony; Herat Governor, Head of Information and Culture, a number of cultural figures and local media in Herat attended the event. Nowruz Radio is a regional discourse/analytical radio that aims to be the voice of culture, art, and society in Afghanistan, as well as to introduce cultural commonalities of the Nowruz region. This radio is determined to turn the discourse of Nowruz notion into a discourse of regional cooperation and convergence, and to be a connecting point for internal and regional dialogue and consultation in the fields of thought production.
Thus, in line with the mentioned goals, this radio aims to spread the news at the national and international level to all relevant and partner institutions. Nowruz Radio will broadcast on 101.1 FM in Herat, as well as through Nowruz website at www.nowruz.af to the wider community out of Heart.
The media platform is owned by the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS); however, the radio and website publications and policies are overseen by an Independent Writers Council and its editorial board.
