The Second Round of Afghanistan-Iran Bilateral Dialogue

The second round of Afghanistan-Iran bilateral dialogue was co-organized by the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) and the Iranian Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (IPIS) on July 14, 2019, in Tehran, Iran.
The meeting was officially inaugurated by Dr. Sayed Rasool Mousavi, Advisor to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic Iran, and Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Liwal, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Islamic Republic of Iran.
Officials and leading experts from Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic Republic of Afghanistan participated in the meeting and shared their views on expanding ties between the two countries in the political, security, economic and cultural spheres. 
During the meeting, there were three working sessions held under the themes;. 1) Recent Developments in Afghanistan and Possible Scenarios from within; 2) Afghanistan: the role of foreign main actors and 3) Iran-Afghanistan Bilateral Relations: Opportunities and Challenges.
The first round of the meeting was held on August 2, 2017 in Kabul, hosted by the Institute of Strategic Studies of Afghanistan.
